Clarion Rehab Services and CHAMP (Clarion Hospital Athletic Medicine Program) are pleased to announce Bryson Huwar as January’s Student-Athlete of the Month.
Bryson is a senior at Clarion-Limestone High School. He has participated in basketball and baseball as well as been a member of the Science Olympiad team. He enjoys hanging out with the boys and playing video games in his free time, especially Fortnite. His favorite sports memories are Hayden Callen throwing his socks out the bus window and winning two KSAC Championships with the Clarion-Limestone baseball team. The most inspiring people in his life are his parents. He states, “They are always there to support me and push me to become better in anything I do.” Bryson’s future plans are to attend St. Bonaventure University to play baseball and major in business. Clarion Rehab Services and CHAMP (Clarion Hospital Athletic Medicine Program) are pleased to announce Tori Beichner as November’s Student-Athlete of the Month.
Tori is a senior at Clarion-Limestone High School where she participates in volleyball, cheerleading, track & field, dance team, sensations choir, and band. She is also a member of the Future Teachers of America club, Tri-M Music Honors Society, National Honors Society, Red Cross Club and Student Council. During her free time she enjoys crafting and cooking. Her favorite sports memories are winning the volleyball playoff game at Johnsonburg this year and making the State Cheer Competition last season. The most inspiring people in her life are her parents who support her in everything that she does and her aunt Donna, who was her best friend and taught her the important things in life. “Aunt Donna was a very strong woman, even when fighting cancer, and I strive to be as strong as her.” Tori’s future plans are to attend college to become an oncology nurse. Bret is a senior at Keystone High School where he participates in football, basketball and track. He is also a member of National Honors Society, SPARK Club, Trap Shooting Club, and Basketball Club. Outside of school he is a member of the Saint Michael Church in Fryburg and enjoys hunting, ice fishing, and trap shooting. His favorite sports memory is earning two playoff spots with the varsity basketball team his junior year. He states that the most inspiring person in his life is his older brother Nate, who continues to help him be the student and athlete that he is today. “I owe him a lot. Thanks for supporting me.” Bret’s future plans include a combination of military service and attending college to major in the field of environmental engineering. Ruby is a senior at Clarion-Limestone High School where she participates in volleyball, soccer and track as well as Science Olympiad, Red Cross Club, Foreign Language Club and National Honors Society. Outside of school she is involved in club volleyball and youth group at church. She also works at Gateway Lodge and Bish Auto Care. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends. Her favorite sports memory is when she successfully completed her first slide during volleyball. She states the most inspiring people in her life are her dad and brothers. “They are supportive of anything I do.” Ruby’s future plans are to attend college to major in biology and pre-med. Maddie is a senior at Keystone High School where she participates in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and soccer. She is also a member of Student Government, where she serves as president, ski club and is involved with her church. . Maddie’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. Maddie’s favorite sports memory is being able to compete in the District 9 Championship game last year at Clarion University.
Maddie’s future plans are to attend Clarion University and achieve a degree in Rehabilitative Science. After her undergraduate degree is complete, she would like to one day become an occupational therapist. Erica is a senior at Clarion Area High School where she participates in volleyball and basketball and is a member of choir. Erica’s hobbies include shopping, spending time with her pets, puzzles, and watching TV.
Erica’s future plans are to go to college and play volleyball at a college/university yet to be decided. Her favorite sports memory is “winning the state championship and celebrating with the community.” Erica states the most inspiring people in her life are “my coaches because they have shaped me not only on the court, but to be a better person.” Erica would like to give her thanks for the athletic opportunities she has had and for her teammates who she feels she could not have achieved anything without. Braden is a senior at Clarion-Limestone High School where he participates in cross country, basketball, track and field, and is a member of Bible Club, National Honors Society, and Math Team. Braden is the Senior Class President and is also an Eagle Scout of Troop 51. His hobbies include running, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family.
Braden’s future plans are to run cross country at the college level while pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at a college/university yet to be decided. His favorite sports memory is “running at the State Championship Cross Country meet in Hershey last year.” Braden states the most inspiring people in his life are “my parents because they taught me to have a strong work ethic and Christian values.” Clarion Rehab Services and CHAMP would like to thank DE Sports, Inc. and Sweet Basil for sponsoring November’s CHAMP Student-Athlete of the Month. Koby is a senior at Keystone High School where he participates in cross country, football, soccer, and track. He is also a member of piano club. His hobbies include running trails, working out, and hanging out with family and friends. Koby also works for Myers Water Wells assisting to dig water wells, and over the summer lifeguards for TTSR.
Koby’s future plans are to attend a college close to home to major in business, and in the future he hopes to start his own business. Koby also plans to continue running cross country and track in college. His favorite sports memories are “in 10th grade when he PR in the 800 and 1600 at Oil City, and qualifying for States a second time.” Koby states, the most inspiring people in my life are “his grandpa Terry and Grandma Norma who watch every race from above.” Koby would also like to thank his dad “for always having my back through the bad times and pushing me to both a better runner and person.” Clarion Rehab Services and CHAMP would like to thank Sweet Basil and DE Sports, Inc. for sponsoring October’s CHAMP Student-Athlete of the Month. Clarion Rehab Services and C.H.A.M.P (Clarion Hospital Athletic Medicine Program) are pleased to announce Mitch Knepp as their Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. Clarion Rehab and C.H.A.M.P contract certified athletic trainers to 4 local school districts including Clarion Area, Clarion-Limestone, Keystone, and North Clarion. Each month throughout the school year, the C.H.A.M.P Athletic Trainers nominate one of their current athletes for the Student-Athlete of the Month. At the end of the school year, one of those monthly winners is named Student-Athlete of the Year. The winner must not only excel in athletics, but also in the classroom and community. Clarion Rehab Director of Sports Medicine Kari Best states “Each year our job of selecting winners gets harder because there are so many great nominations and this year, though cut short for these students, was no exception. Mitch demonstrates exactly what we want in our student athlete of the month and year winners. He is hard working, excels in the classroom and the community, is a good teammate and classmate, and will go far in his future endeavors.”
Mitch was a senior at Clarion-Limestone High School this year where he participated in football, basketball, and track and field. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in Academic Decathlon and Academic Sports League. His hobbies outside of school include attending Cornerstone Church Youth Group. Clarion Rehab owner Seth Babington states, “Mitch is going to do well in life. He is pleasant, hard-working and well rounded. He exemplifies what the C.H.A.M.P. Student-Athlete of the Year award is all about. He excelled in the classroom and he performed well in a variety of athletic activities. We wish him the best.” Clarion Limestone’s athletic trainer Emily Lubas states, “Mitch is such a well rounded student and athlete. He has been a pleasure to work with over his high school career and will succeed in anything he plans to do in the future.” Mitch states that the most inspiring person in his life is his “dad, because he has shown him the value of hard work.” Mitch’s future plans are to attend Clarion University for a major in the business field. Clarion Rehab/C.H.A.M.P and the Clarion Hospital Foundation presented Mitch with a five hundred dollar scholarship. They would like to congratulate Mitch Knepp, and all the 2020 graduates in their achievements and wish them the best in their future endeavors. Troy is a senior at Keystone High School. He participates in golf, basketball and baseball, and is a member of the National Honors Society and Concert Choir. His hobbies include spending time with his friends and playing sports. Troy also works for Ritner Pools and Spas.
Troy’s future plans are to attended college for Plastics Engineering Technology or Engineering at a school to be determined. He hopes to continue his basketball career at the school he chooses to attend. His favorite sports memory is “winning the KSAC Championship this year.” Troy states the most inspiring people in his life are “my mom, dad and sisters, as well as my coaches that have all inspired me throughout my life.” Clarion Rehab Services and CHAMP would like to thank Pizza Pub and DE Sports, Inc for sponsoring February’s CHAMP Student-Athlete of the Month. Troy was awarded gift certificates to both of these local establishments. Claire is a senior at North Clarion High School where she participates in basketball. She is also a member of Junior Historians Club, Student Council and Science Olympiad.
Claire also works at Pizza Pub and Ice-O. During her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends, playing basketball, and visiting her brother and sister on the weekends. Her favorite sports memory is making the Elite 8 with the girls basketball team her sophomore year. The most inspiring person in her life is her sister. Claire states that her sister is her “biggest supporter and always there for her.” Claire’s future plans are to attend Point Park University to major in Forensic Science and to eventually work in a lab for the FBI.
