Owner of Clarion Rehab) Clarion Rehabilitation Services and CHAMP Athletic Medicine Program would like to announce their 2023-2024 Student-Athlete of the Year is Jack Craig. Jack graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School this year and was a member of the cross country, golf, basketball and baseball teams. His future plans are to attend Penn State Behrend to major in mechanical engineering. He also plans to be a member of their cross country team. Over the summer, Jack is interning at Brookville Equipment. Clarion-Limestone Athletic Trainer, Emily Lubas, states “Jack was a great part of the C-L community. He was not only an active member of the various sports teams but was involved in several clubs/groups and excelled in the classroom.” CHAMP and Clarion Rehab Services would like to congratulate Jack on a great academic and athletic high school career. Jack received a $500 scholarship presented by Clarion Rehab as well as gift certificates from Sweet Basil. Congratulations Jack! We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Owner of Clarion Rehab) Clarion Rehab Services and the CHAMP Athletic Medicine Program are pleased to announce Dawson Smail as April’s Student-Athlete of the Month. Dawson is a senior at Clarion Area High School where he has participated in football, basketball and baseball. In his free time he likes spending time with his friends and family, enjoying nature, hitting baseballs, swimming, golfing and going on runs. His hobbies include learning about the stock market and watching movies. He works as a laborer for Fred L. Burns and is a Doordash delivery driver. His favorite sports memory is winning the PIAA A State Championship for baseball last year with his best friends. The most inspiring people in Dawson’s life are his parents, his baseball coach Rob Jewett, Seth Babington, Laura Burford and his grandparents. They are always there to support him. Dawson’s future plans are to attend Xavier University to major in business and continue his baseball career. This summer he plans to work at the Clarion Oaks Golf Course. His favorite sports memory includes winning the District 9 boys basketball championship last year. The most inspiring people in Jack’s life are his parents, who have always supported him in everything he does. Jack’s future plans are to attend Penn State Behrend to major in engineering and is working towards becoming a member of the basketball team. Lily is a senior at North Clarion High School where she played volleyball and basketball. She is also a member of the National Honors Society. In the summer, she works at the pool in Oil City. Lily’s hobbies include playing basketball and working out in her free time. Her favorite sports memory is playing in the KSAC Championships and District 9 playoffs with the girls basketball team. The most inspiring person in her life is her dad, who has coached her throughout her entire basketball career and has taught her many new things about life and basketball. Devon is a senior at Clarion Area High School where he is a member of the golf, basketball and baseball teams. His hobbies include hanging out with friends and playing sports. His favorite sports memories include his first in game dunk during a basketball game and winning the state title with the baseball team last season. The most inspiring person in his life is his dad, who has taught him everything he knows and gives him helpful tips to help him in sports and life. Devon’s future plans are to attend a four year college to major in mathematics and minor in sports management. Brady is a senior at Clarion Area High School where he has participated in football and track. He is a member of National Honors Society, Youth Council and is President of the Senior Class. In his free time, his hobbies include hunting, fishing and lifting. His favorite sports memory was this football season when he had a pick 6 interception versus Punxsy with Jase running behind him yelling that he better score. The most inspiring people in Brady’s life are his parents, who have pushed him to work hard and strive to be the best he can be in everything he participates in. Brady’s future plans are to attend Triangle Tech to become an electrician. Athletic Trainer; Emily Lubas, Director of Sports Medicine at Clarion Rehab) Clarion Rehab Services and the CHAMP Athletic Medicine Program are pleased to announce Sarah Cotton as September’s Student-Athlete of the Month. Sarah is a senior at Keystone High School where she served as the captain of the varsity girls soccer team this season. She has also participated in track and field, marching band, concert band and choir, the school musical, Keystone Youth Education Association, SPARK Club and is the secretary of the senior class, treasurer of Senior High Student Government, and the secretary of National Honors Society. Outside of school she is an active member of 4-H, and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and youth group. Her hobbies include horseback riding, playing the clarinet, violin and soprano saxophone as well as singing and reading. Her favorite sports memory is breaking her nose while playing soccer against Clarion this year and having to get it set back in place on the sideline. The most inspiring people in Sarah’s life are her coaches and her family. Sarah stated, “They push me to do my best in everything I do.” Sarah’s future plans are to attend an undecided college to obtain a degree in Elementary and Special Education. Clarion Rehabilitation Services and CHAMP(Clarion Hospital Athletic Medicine Program) would like to announce their 2022-2023 Co-Student Athlete of the Year as Kendall Dunn and Aiden Hartle. Kendall graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School this year where she participated in volleyball, basketball and softball throughout her high school career. Her future plans are to attend Pitt Bradford to become a physical therapist and will start her collegiate athletic career with the volleyball team while she is there. “Kendall was unfortunately sidelined from sports for most of this year due to injury, but she has been working hard behind the scenes to get back. She is such a dedicated person not only to sports but her academics as well. She is one of those people that if she puts her mind to something, it will most definitely be accomplished”, states Clarion-Limestone Athletic Trainer, Emily Lubas. Aiden graduated from North Clarion High School this year where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. His future plans are to attend PennWest Clarion to major in business management. While at Clarion, he will continue his athletic career with the baseball team. Clarion Rehab’s owner Seth Babington states, “Aiden has excelled in both the classroom and in the athletic arena. His teachers and coaches speak very highly of him. He is a hard worker who has performed well and I am excited to see him move on to the next level at PennWest Clarion.” CHAMP and Clarion Rehab Services would like to congratulate our two recipients. Kaine is a senior at North Clarion High School where he participates in cross country and track. He is a member of National Honors Society, Junior Historians and Envirothon. He is also a member of the Governor's Youth Advisory Council for Hunting and Fishing and is a Junior Sportsman with the Clarion County Sportsmen for Youth. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, trapping and running. His favorite sports memories include medaling at the District 9 track meet and running in the State Cross Country Championships. The most inspiring people in his life are his parents. They are always pushing him to do his best and have taught him about everything he loves to do. Kaine’s future plans are to attend PennWest Clarion to major in Fisheries and Wildlife. Clarion Rehab Services and CHAMP (Clarion Hospital Athletic Medicine Program) are pleased to announce Jordan Hesdon as February’s Student-Athlete of the Month. Jordan is a senior at Clarion-Limestone High School where he participates in golf, basketball, and baseball. He is also a member of the Academic Sports League. His hobbies include playing a variety of sports and hanging out with friends. Winning both the KSAC and District 9 boys basketball titles this year were his favorite sports memories of his high school career. The most inspiring person in his life is Coach Joe Ferguson. “He has taught me many life lessons outside the game of basketball that I can use throughout my life,” Jordan states. Jordan’s future plans are to attend Slippery Rock University to major in Marine Biology.
